Course Description

Equine CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a manual therapy used to re-balance a horse’s muscles, fascia and nervous system. This light touch technique can improve underlying areas of dysfunction resulting in a more calm, responsive and willing horse with smoother movements and improved behavior.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will have learned about the following:

  • Equine surface anatomy, physiology and biomechanics;
  • Introduction to craniosacral techniques including how to feel the craniosacral rhythm, listening stations and signs of release;
  • CST diaphragms and techniques: pelvic, respiratory, thoracic, hyoid, occipital cranial base and cranial vault techniques;
  • TMJ anatomy & techniques, dural tube, lumbosacral, intertransverse joint techniques, scapular function, techniques, sacrosciatic ligament anatomy & techniques, energy & awareness, safety and equine behaviour.

Prerequisite: This course is open to professional healthcare practitioners with a background in manual therapy, veterinarians, equine bodyworkers and students in training. Participants must have experience and confidence in handling horses. Whilst it is not a prerequisite to be a horse owner or a regular rider, it is an advantage if you are confident around horses. Being confident and calm around horses is important when treating them, to build trust.
